Are we really all worrying about coddling the allistics in our tags now? Really?
I’ve seen so many ‘don’t be mean! If you’re nice they’ll change!’ posts today, seriously. Which frankly, is really fucking frustrating. No, I don’t want to be nice to people who see me as inferior. And if them seeing me as human is dependant on my politeness then I don’t want them anyway. Like with any kind of privilege axis, if allies are only allies when we’re nice to them, they aren’t good allies. And they’re not really good people, either.
Why is everyone suddenly falling over themselves in an attempt to please the allistic people? These people think their autistic kids are burdens or their autistic siblings need hitting. These people claim we’re all ‘high functioning’ and bitter at our parents and thus our opinion doesn’t matter. These people… these people barely consider us human and throw around bunk science to explain our existence or to try and cure us out of existence. And we’re supposed to be polite and friendly through it all?
No. I’m not going to be polite or friendly to these people. I’m going to be a rude and angry motherfucker about it all. And I don’t care whose toes I step on when it comes to fighting for recognition as a human being. Be it the allistics or the appologists.
