The Cycle of Transmisogyny

autumn-and-eve:

  1. The CAMAB trans person’s gender identity is erased, and they are viewed as a man
  2. Being a man, they are held to binarist standards of masculinity
  3. Being that they present themselves in a feminine manner, their masculinity is nonexistent
  4. As a male’s masculinity (or, perceived male’s) is fundamental to his legitimacy, the CAMAB trans person is debased and marginalized.

When a trans woman does not present as feminine, transmisogyny can still occur against her in the following system:

  1. The trans woman’s gender identity is taken into consideration
  2. The trans woman does not present in a feminine manner
  3. Being that they do not present themselves in a feminine manner, they are not truly female since they are not devoted enough to “femaleness” to present as such
  4. The trans woman’s gender identity is erased, and they are viewed as a man

This creates a vicious double standard which asserts that CAMAB trans people can be neither feminine, nor androgynous, nor masculine, as with any of these, they are “doing gender” incorrectly.
