Over the last few months, I’ve noticed “TW” being used as shorthand for “trigger warning” a lot. I’m wondering why on earth is that? and where did this come from? But mostly, why has it taken off?
Is a trigger warning really something you want ambiguity around? Is it something…
I suspect it probably started with people tweeting things that needed a warning and they didn’t have room to type it all?
But then I’m probably Part Of The Problem since I’ve used it on tumblr, though I generally add a reason to my trigger warnings anyway.
Well, I mean, it makes sense if it’s Twitter, and staticnonsense also mentioned that disability can play into it.
I don’t think Chally’s intent was to say that “if you abbreviate this then YOU ARE BAD.” It certainly wasn’t my intent. Just… where possible/practical, I really think that it’d be more useful to spell out what a TW is, you know?
