Completely aside from the people dying thing, that’s utterly ridiculous/bizarre because AIDS ISN’T THE ONLY STD!?! Or even the only incurable one!
Well, she may have meant to talk about all STDs generally. But yeah — the general attitude of my family and their social circles was that cures/preventions of STDs and STIs were bad because they helped people have sex. :( Which is one of the reasons I had to leave.
